History of The Bladder

The Bladder website was established by media magnate Lance Melrose in 1853, in a far-sighted pre-internet move.

Having covered everything from the first Ashes series to the birth of Australian Rules football and the modern Olympics, Bladder reporters continue to pave the way in an increasingly complex sports media world, using a traditional online reporting mix of incisive questioning, Pittman 2000 shorthand, cash bribes and, in our UK division, phone-tapping.

Having found himself the under-bidder by roughly $1 billion on the 2012-16 AFL TV rights and internet media deals, after an ill-timed failure of automated last-second eBay bidding software, Mr Melrose has relaunched The Bladder as a dedicated online news service.

Proudly ignoring the resources of CBS, ESPN, AAP, BBC, AP, and any other credible sources, The Bladder brings you sport as you truly want it – completely made up, and funny.
